The missing link? Experience.

The missing link? Experience.

In Australia, dog training isn’t a regulated industry. That means almost anyone can complete a short course — sometimes largely online — and begin advertising themselves as a dog trainer. And while everybody has to start somewhere, experience can heavily influence outcomes, so it’s a vital criteria when it comes to choosing the right dog trainer to help you. Established in 2001, CLEAR Dog Training has helped thousands of owners raise happy, well-mannered family pets. Current owner and head trainer Caroline Strainig has been associated with CLEAR for more than 10 years and brings decades of hands-on animal training experience to the role. Before moving full-time into dog training, Caroline competed at international level in equestrian sport — where timing, feel, communication and reading animal behaviour are everything.

Caroline herself has also won many national, state and Royal Show titles in sports as diverse as obedience, rally obedience, tricks, dances with dogs and flyball. Because successful dog training is about far more than simply learning “the theory”. The ability to read subtle body language, adjust in the moment, problem-solve calmly and tailor training to the individual dog in front of you is something developed over years of real-world experience with many different dogs, breeds and household situations. Because when it comes to training your puppy or dog to be the well-behaved family pet of which we all dream, experience really does matter. 🐾
